Vinegar
The acidity of the vinegar can help to strip the purple / blue / green dye from your hair without damaging your scalp. It is important to note that for this method, you need to use either apple cider vinegar or plain white vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar is an excellent way to get unwanted hair dyes out of your hair. Not only it adds benefits for your hair, but it also helps your blonde locks back to normal. Adding some oil to the water and vinegar mixture is a nice option. It doesn’t matter what kind of oil, it could be grapeseed oil, almond oil, or olive oil. This will add extra moisture and shine to your hair.
However, if you don’t have the apple cider vinegar, you can use plain white vinegar. This works wonders too.
There are two procedures you can do with the vinegar. First, create equal parts of water and plain white vinegar. Next, douse it on your hair and cover it for 15-20 minutes before rinsing.
The second method is that you need to use ½ cup of apple cider vinegar and water. Make sure to use this mixture after shampooing your hair. Then, leave this concoction in your hair for at least 10 minutes. After, rinse it with only water.
Don’t worry about the smell of the vinegar as it will go away once you dry your hair. If the initial result isn’t your desired one, you can make another one and use it again on your hair the next day.
2. Baking Soda
Nothing is worse than a toned hair gone wrong. Set aside the panic mode as a cheap and easy to find a remedy is here – baking soda.
Baking soda is the best natural and cleansing ingredient that can eliminate the semi-permanent colour left on your toned hair. Using it, along with a suitable shampoo, can hasten the process. But for this method, I will teach you how to use baking soda alone to do the trick.
Simply mix two tablespoons of baking soda and 1 ½ cup of water. Before applying the mixture, make sure your hair is wet. Leave it in for 10 minutes. Then rinse your hair thoroughly with water.
You can do this method for 3 to 4 consecutive days. Expect that your hair might dry a little bit, but this ensures its effectiveness to remove the toner from your hair to a certain extent.
3. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is another recommended solution in removing unwanted toner from your hair. This natural product is very safe to use. However, the best time to use this is 24 to 48 hours after using a hair toner to achieve its maximum result.
For this method, you will use 4 to 6 lemons (add more if you have long hair) to extract the juice. After extracting the juice, add a spoonful of hair conditioner. Apply the mixture of lemon juice and conditioner to the hair and use a wide-toothed comb to distribute the product to your hair evenly.
Once done, cling wrap your hair or use a plastic bag to cover your head. This allows the lemon juice and conditioner mixture to penetrate deeply into your hair. Do this for one hour or, if possible, leave it to your hair overnight and wash it off in the morning using a mild shampoo and lukewarm water.
4. Tomato Sauce
This sounds crazy, but dumping tomato sauce on your heads is a hair-dye removal technique. If you are ashy blonde and end up looking like a green coral reef whenever you colour your hair or come into contact with chlorine, counteract it with tomato sauce.
Since tomato sauce is colour red, it can neutralize those unwanted colours like green and blue.
For this method, you will only need tomato sauce and nothing else. Simply, massage the tomato sauce into your hair. The amount depends on how thick or long your hair is. Then, cover it with a plastic bag or cling wrap your hair for 30 minutes to 1 hour before rinsing it away.
5. Clarifying or Dandruff Shampoo
Even if regular shampoos will not be useful at getting toner out of your hair, there is a way you can still use these if you are going to add some ingredients found in your kitchen cabinets, which are all listed before this.
A clarifying shampoo is a suitable product to use to remove toner from your hair. This type of shampoo is specially designed to remove dirt and oil build up from your hair, which can remove the hair dye too.
After using a clarifying shampoo, you can notice that the colour or toner starts to fade. However, it is not recommended that you wash your hair twice with clarifying shampoo as it can strip off the natural oil in your hair, making it more fragile and prone to damage.
Another type of shampoo to use is an anti-dandruff shampoo. This is an excellent choice to remove the unwanted colour from your hair. However, bear in mind that you may need to wash your hair several times to see the optimum results.
To boost the effectiveness, you can add baking soda to your clarifying or anti-dandruff shampoo. Adding a half teaspoon of baking soda on a dollop shampoo is enough for a single application. Simply apply the mixture to the hair and massage it well. Ensure that you rinse the shampoo and baking soda thoroughly to remove the lumpy residue completely.
Ultimately, baking soda is the most beneficial ingredient of all when it comes to getting the toner out of your hair quickly. However, its downside is that it can damage your hair. So, after doing this trick, make sure to give your hair an intensive treatment it deserves.
